Mineral salts:- these are foods rich in mineral salts- onions, green vegetables, liver, egg, etc. Generally they contain and help in healthy growth and bone formation and blood clotting.
Examples of mineral salts:
1. Calcium -
Sources: milk, cheese,egg,fish,
Function: Bone formation, blood clotting, normal functioning of the heart.
Deficiency: Rickets, tooth decay
2. Phosphorus:
Sources: milk, egg, fish, wheat.
Function: strong development of teeth and bones.
Deficiency: Ricket, tooth decay.
3. Magnesium:
Sources: Milk, meat, green vegetables.
Function: for muscle contraction, needed for utilization of iron, present in teeth and bones.
Deficiency: Nervous disorder.
